PRIVATE COOKING CLASSES: Let us cook up a celebration for you - whether it's a birthday, a bridal shower, or just a group getting together. We can tailor your class to your group's cooking skill level and type of desired menu. Chefs will work side by side with your group to create a memorable meal. See below for more on private classes. March 14 GREEK EASTER FEAST with Ya-Ya. We hope you love to cook, eat Greek food, and sing because this class will have ALL of these ingredients! You will want to take Ya-Ya home with you!!!! Menu: Leg of lamb with roasted potatoes, Imam Baildi (eggplant), Spanakopeta Spinich pie) Trahana (tomato based soup) Romaine and herb salad, Koulourakia (short bread cookies) $55 March 26 GROWN IN OJAI (Class is full but will be repeated) with Ojai's cookbook author Karen Evenden. Thanks to the ever-bountiful blessings of sunshine and warm weather and the (sometimes) procurable supply of water, the Ojai Valley enjoys a rich and verdant tradition of agriculture. Early settlers relying on dry-land farming practices planted olives and apricots and walnuts and with the introduction of irrigation, the Valley attracted citrus and avocado farmers. Today’s farmers proudly produce oranges, lemons, Ojai Pixie tangerines, avocados, olives, lavender and walnuts. This class will celebrate these ingredients, Ojai’s finest crops. $60. Menu: Marinated Olives Cream Cheese with Lavender-Tomato Jam (this is really yummy!), Avocado Soup Garnished with Shrimp, Beet and Walnut Salad, Lavender-Lemon Chicken served with Apricot Coulis, Pixie Tangerines with Ginger Cardamom Syrup Walnut Orange Cake April 25 OJAI CITRUS - with local cookbook author Karen Evenden. Menu Coming Soon. May 2 ITALIAN PUGLIA with Ellen Sherwood. Puglia-Mediterranean “Old World” $75. Puglia stretches from the spur of the Italian boot to its heel. It is together with Sicily the most productive wine region in Southern Italy. As we savor the glorious aromas, all you need to do is close your eyes to experience this Mediterranean “Old World” with quiet villages of whitewashed Trulli cottages, aged farmhouses, gently rolling hills, olive & almond orchards, and stretches of sunny Adriatic coastline. Have your passport on hand as we sample the bounty of rustic and savory Pugliese cuisine...cooled by sea breezes. Wine flight including outstanding wine from the Salento (Salento peninsula is a rock of limestone dividing the Adriatic Sea from the Ionian Sea.) The intimate Lavender Inn is the setting for the innovative Ojai Culinary School. The cooking school offers a wide variety of hands-on and demonstration cooking classes ranging from visiting chefs to local artisanal cooks. The emphasis on the cooking classes is to develop technique and expertise along with a sense of ease in the kitchen.
